The Skyline Trail is the most popular trail in Cape Breton Highlands National Park, which features an extensive boardwalk system that protects the natural terrain.
The nearly 10 km hiking path (loop, the maintained oneway is a bit shorter) leads to a look-off that offers one of the most spectacular ocean views in North America. From the end of this trail, you can look down on the majestic mountain forests of the Cabot Trail winding toward the sea or turn your head and catch a glimpse of whales playing in the Gulf of St. Lawrence.

- Benches for sitting and soaking in the scenery are located at the headland look-off and restrooms are a much appreciated amenity found in the trailhead parking lot.
- Moose are frequently spotted along this trail. It’s not unusual for hikers to see three or four moose during the two and a half hours it takes the average trekker to complete the loop.
- Eagles and sprouse grouse are just two species of the birdlife you can expect to encounter on your way.
